A LGA771 Xeon Capable Freight Train for little money and little effort!
Budget-friendly freight train that can accept a 5400-series LGA771 Xeon, FULLY supported with no firmware hacks, just run the latest BIOS revision that Intel released for the board (v135) and you're set! I'm running several in my fleet and have deployed many more running with Xeon e5450 (SLANQ, c0 stepping) CPU's. You won't find a better quad core setup at this speed for this kind of money! Maxed @ 8gb RAM, they're stellar general-purpose systems; web browsing wonders and basic multimedia. I wouldn't plan on heavy gaming unless you upgrade the GPU (yes it has a 16x slot). Windows 10 runs spiffy. Great "work from home" or online school systems that can be built for under $100 turn-key.
The only 'hitch' would be modifying the LGA771 CPU to fit in the LGA775 socket....but don't be afraid to try, there's tons of information on how to do this, and it's really easy to do!!
