Bow planes.
In referring to the bow planes , the early boats were built with bowplanes. Following a Navy program to operate under the polar ice they were moved in building to the current sail planes. This is a model of a current yet older version

Early USS Enterprise CVN 65.
It appears hat Trumpeter stole the Tamyia Enterprise, and made a few changes to be different. The bad side the Hull is screwed together at the bow. But a better bow is here. Inbox the parts are at the level of the Tamyia Enterprise and that's the rub. The Hull and aircraft are from Tamiya's kit. The missile launchers are wrong mk 29 not mk 25. Also the weapons fit is from the 1990's not the 1960-70's. So a number of things will need to be changed. Nothing very hard, just need knife and putty. Overall looks like a real fun build and lots of little things left to detail the Nimitz kit. Using Trumpeter aircraft not the kits will improve a lot. Would recommend the kit to all builders over ten, and expressly recommend for the detail builder. Note the clean fantail in the color picture.

Great kit, can fully rig with the help of, The Rigging of Ships, in the days of the Spirit sail. By R.C. Anderson. This will tell you the correct rigging not just the easy way. You can also buy wooden deck and sails here on eBay. When done look like a museum piece.
