An acquired taste, but one the best of its kind.

This Redemption release is probably the definite version of this many-titled film. An acquired taste for sure, this Jess Franco production is the nearest he got to a collaboration with that other prolific low-budget director Jean Rollin (exclusive 'Zombie Lake'). As such, you can choose to view Franco's film with Rollin's inserts, or without. Either way, if you are into Franco films, or just dream-like, delirious, weird erotica/horror, this is highly recommended. The constant zooms in and out of locations and items often seems haphazard and unnecessary, but there are times (when Christina goes for a night-time wander, for example) when the approach effectively communicates a trance-like state. The ending, too, is extremely effective – by far the best sequence in the film. Although Christina's fate is tragic, it is handled beautifully, with the rest of the 'family' standing by, seemingly in a somnambulist state with a haunting incidental score.

The wheels took a bit of persuading to fit, but other than that, I am completely pleased with this product and recommend it strongly.
