Absolutely First Rate History!
This book and its earlier volume 1 are both exceptionally well-written and utterly clear. The author does not bash you over the head with his agenda, but allows it to become obvious from his insightful analysis. Hitler as Warlord is revealed as muddled and often confused and the "turf wars" of his minions - especially, Himmler and Goering - are shown to have been utterly contraproductive. If their objectives had been less grisly, the bureaucratic antics of those men would be almost humorous.
I had not heard of Professor Norman Rich before reading the first volume, but I am a HUGE fan now. This book is almost fifty years old and it's as insightful and instructive today as on the day it was published.

One of the best one-volume histories!
This history of the Third Reich is immensely readable and one of the best of the one-volume histories.
