Piper Super Cub 95 Flying Model Balsa Aircraft Kit 610mm Wingspan from Guillow's

Enjoyable but a bit fiddly

I was hoping this kit was not one of the super flimsy kits I have sworn over in the past. Although v.delicate, the laser cut parts are accurately cut and save a lot of detail work. The stringers are 1/16” square and need a very light touch but glue together nicely. Some of the construction details, especially the undercarriage and wing struts are sketchy and a degree of experimentation is needed. I haven’t finished the model yet so I can’t comment on it’s completed look but I have enjoyed the build so far. I would recommend this if you have a steady hand and some patience. I won’t be flying it as it probably would wreck itself on it’s first rough landing!

Requires a steady hand

I enjoyed making this model a lot. It’s been a long time since I made this kind of balsa aircraft. The construction is extremely delicate and requires a great deal of patience to complete as well as a steady hand and some skill! There was some sheet material missing so I had to go to my local, (20 miles away) model shop to buy some and have yet to receive a reply from my email to the manufacturers about the missing sheet. I haven’t quite finished the kit yet but I think it unlikely I will attempt to fly it as it seems so fragile! All in all, I would recommend this kit. If you enjoy a challenge, go for it!!
