Great presenter
Bought this for my wife. Wanted something basic and not too complicated. Quality great for the price. Paired easily and operated flawlessly. She loves it.

Surprisingly Good
1 von 1 finden das hilfreich Was looking to replace a set of power rail pickups in a Epi Les Paul with something brighter. On a tight budget, so thought I would gamble on these. Wanted a blacked out look for the guitar, and thought they looked cool. And I figured in worst case, I could always pull the covers off them and use them on a different set of pickups.
The Bad - Quality Control
The covers on a pickup are attached to the base by solder joints. On both of these, the joints were poorly constructed. One cover was completely loose, and the other barely holding. Without good joints, the covers are not grounded causing noise. A few minutes with a soldering iron resolved this.
One of the feet on one of the pickups was a bit bent as well. A bit of gentle pressure with my pliers fixed this.
Minor issues, but does indicate that quality control where they were manufactured is not a priority.
There were no wiring codes, but they had already soldered the ground wire and the bare wire together, so no trouble figuring out which was ground and which was hot.
The pickups are obviously wax potted, since you could see the wax with the covers loose. Haven't played them in front of a loud amp, but it shouldn't be a problem.
The Good - sound
They are definitely bright, almost too bright. But that's not a bad thing. My tone control now has a reason to exist. You can easily roll off a bit of high end brightness, but you can't do much if the pickup Is too dark or muddy These are bright but not icepick bright.
The pickups were described as "musical" and I think that's a good description. They are very articulate and you get nice separation of notes in chords. Individual notes really sing. And the open faced covers do seem to add some interesting harmonics. I like the sound.
They are not as loud as the rail pickups were, but still plenty of output. My compressor and distortion pedals seem to play nicely with them.
In setup, I have the bridge pickup almost all the way to the strings to max the volume. The neck pickup is set reasonably low to balance. You aren't getting much pull on the strings at the bridge, so you can always set that pickup close without creating wolf tone.
Overall, very happy with them. And at $12.50 each shipped to your door, who can complain?
