Westerberg's Third Solo Album
The best of Westerberg's three major label releases, it has several really good songs including one of his absolute best, "It's a Wonderful Lie." It's a mixed bag though and as we would later learn, glossy production doesn't always best suit Westerberg's songs. Thankfully a lot of the songs are bare, low production affairs.

Bombino's first release
Omara Mochtar, a.k.a. Bombino, is the leader of Group Bombino and this album was recorded before his Cumbancha label release. This album has a split personality, originally intended as a vinyl release with two different sides stylistically. The first four songs are presumably studio recordings in an acoustic style with vocals, acoustic guitars, and handclap percussion. The four songs here are really good but perhaps not different enough stylistically to be great. The songs are credited with being from the Bombino archive and were presumably recorder by the band on their own for local release. It is the sound used for Bombino's Agdez album. The second song was a stand out track on the various artists Tamashek compilation. The last five songs were recorded live by the founder of the Sublime Frequencies label in Agadez, Niger and Group Bombino live is a different beast altogether. Bombino's band features other guitarists and a kit drummer. The mix is imperfect as the vocals are buried in the mix but the guitar work shines on these track.

Keeping the Trains on Time
The second album by post-punk defining Gang of Four may be a little less harsh than than their first album but that makes it a little more of an easy listen and a little more enjoyable. While there is no denying the classic status of That's Entertainment, this album can stand next to it without withering.
