Inappropriate for Bettas
1 von 3 finden das hilfreich Bettas are pets not decorations. I study Bettas and this is inappropriate housing for them for many reasons. In the wild they may get stuck in puddles during the dry season but as soon as they can they return to deeper marshes, paddies and streams. Would you want to live in one small room the rest of your life? I rescued a Betta from a small tank because they said it was dying as soon as it got in my tank it perked up and it's infection went away. It's very hard to keep these clean(water must be changed daily to prevent ammonia burn), the right temperature(75-80 degrees) and give them enough exercise to prevent fatty deposit build up. 2.5-5 gallons are recommended for Bettas. Just do some research on the pets you get before you get them.

In the wild they live in large vegetated marshes, rice paddies and streams in SE Asia. Breathing surface air is a survival mechanism in case they get trapped in puddles during the dry season. They attempt to escape to larger areas a soon as possible. Bettas need a temperature of 75 to 80 degrees which is hard to maintain in a small container. These containers have to be changed daily so they don't get ammonia burn. They often die early from deposits of fatty tissue from not enough exercise in these small cups. The recommended size for Bettas is 3-5 gallons. They also need plants to hide in, rest and explore. Though they can survive a short time they will mot be healthy and happy.
