Fully functional, one small drawback
This cable works fine with my mid 2013 Macbook Air. I soldered it to the circuit board in the charger as my old cable was frayed at both ends. The cable itself is flexible and looks much like the old one, it sticks well in the maglock and fit the charger perfectly. Time will tell what the quality is like.
My only remark is that the little windows for the LED:s in the connector are not covered like on the original cable. In this substitute cable they're tiny holes open into the circuit board in the connector. This may make it more sensitive to intrusion from spilled fluids and the like... You can probably put in a bit of transparent glue to cover this hole up.
