Earthy haiku, buyer beware
1 von 1 finden das hilfreich My knowledge of haiku came from memories of reading Basho and about Zen. I got this as a gift for my young niece. Imagine my surprise when I found out this volume constitutes an introduction to the genre of obscene haiku. You didn't realize there was such a thing? Neither did I. On reflection it should come as no surprise that what I gather is a lack of what might be called a puritan element in Japanese culture has produced earthy haiku -- ironically, as I typed this I got a message in red from eBay asking me to refrain from 'potty mouth,' because it's a 'kid friendly zone,' which is precisely my point. My complaint is that it would have been nice to know before I got this book. It's quite obvious I can't give it to my niece.

You can't drink actual gold, so this is better
They want me to say how good this tea is (if you like it strong, which I do), but I'm not going to, because then you'll just go and buy it, and the truth is I want it all for myself.

The human consequences of an encounter with non-human artifacts
Here are the gory details (well, some of the personal ones; more technical data are on his website, which helps because the verbal descriptions of the objects aren't really detailed enough for you to clearly visualize them). I always found Lazar credible, the redoubtable Stanton Friedman's views notwithstanding. An eye opening book -- alarmingly so -- that everyone should read. An unexpected result is the insight into how it messed up the author's life, ending his science research career, about which he was obviously passionate. What a sacrifice, but what a benefit to everyone else.
