Simple, Vintage, but Needs Equalization!
A good receiver for 2-channel analog. Good response and low distortion, from 20hz - 20khz with DSP disabled. Recommend at least one equalizer for use with T-Bass. Does not handle line-level input, but has peak indicator and option for -6 decibel input.
- This model has none of the standard equalizer presets or digital effects.
- Handles extreme equalization with low input.
- Great functions, vintage features and appearance, simple controls.

Great quality for desktop listening with advanced equalization.

These headphones sound best with at least 24db of equalization ranged from at least 30hz to 16khz (20hz to 20khz over no less than 15 bands is ideal) and are therefore not good for portables although they are sensitive enough for low powered devices. The internal amplifier must be activated for best sound quality and distortion will increase dramatically if the battery falls below 1.4 volts therefore you'll need a large supply of new alkaline batteries at all times to ensure the highest sound quality. (AAA batteries supply 1.5 volts new and most single-cell devices can operate cleanly down to one volt, do not use rechargeables which will only supply 1.3 volts at full charge.)
The noise cancelling feature is not effective and despite it's capacity, will not attenuate 70% as described by the manufacturer due to the earpiece design. The headband applies little pressure and the SPL isn't high enough to suppress ambient noise which leaks around the earpiece. The noise cancelling circuit will also amplify sounds which are out of phase, especially anything which directly vibrates the headband or earpiece. Therefore if you're sitting next to a constant noise source or chatty housemates, you'll have to filter the noise mentally.
The sound quality is nearly worthy of 'audiophile' rating however you'll need very clean analog sources (or digital sources with minimal or lossless encryption) to appreciate it at it's full capacity with no less than 24db of equalization and no DSP. These are excellent for video gaming appreciation of high quality music within a quiet environment. Increase of earpiece pressure with a custom or secondary headband will improve high and low frequency reception as well as effectiveness of noise cancelling and even without modification the responsiveness of the cone material and earpiece acoustics are respectable.
Be careful not to activate noise canceling while these are on your head or to damage the internal wiring with frequent twisting of ear pieces or the head band. Discontinuity of power of shorting of interconnecting cables will cause extremely loud 'pops' which will injure your ears.

Best of its generation.
I've replaced this discontinued video card recently due to failure of one of the on-board power regulation components, however, it lasted under heavy load, continuously, for five years without any modification or cooling enhancements, and was used for all of the popular AAA ultra-quality titles in an extreme system. Dual-GPU cards are ideal for all purposes which are related to rendering of graphics, including video gaming, but the games of this card's generation, and even the majority of the current, were not well optimized for multi-processor systems and devices. Components will tend to fail due to the load imbalance if you don't monitor temperatures/activity and maintain on a bi-weekly basis. If you're upgrading your systems and you're interested in this class of device, then you'll want the higher of the Nvidia 700 and 1000 series, or any of the Titans. Although the Titan Z is effectively the successor to this product, you should consider the single-GPU Titan X/Xp for 4k gaming. Nvidia is genuinely superior.
This was one of the hard-clocked models by EVGA which did not require any tweaking, and I would recommend operating them in large cases (full tower) with at least four fans for extreme gaming. Liquid cooling is not necessary for Nvidia.
