a good medium sized model with a lot of building potential
Part of the now retired 'Glatorian' range, the set is essentially a snowmobile/bike with a figure attached. As a model, it is pleasing to look at and has a good deal of functional play value as the rear caterpillar tracks work well. The Bionicle figure, when separated, is built in a crouched position and is little use off the bike. However, as a source of MOC parts, its excellent. Includes the hard plastic caterpillar treads, several jet engine elements and wings and lots of other unusual technic elements.

Spectacular fantasy driving game, solid driving experience
Unbounded is the latest in a long line of Ridge Racer titles and a complete departure from the 'safe' road racing format that it previously adhered to.Unbounded takes a cue from other racers such as Split Second and Blur and allows drivers to crash through the scenery and other drivers. The environment is beautifully rendered and lit and the cars are realistic and dynamic. Where the game falls down is with the repetition of the courses, which take place across an imaginary city, so the same basic scenes and elements appear regularly. This becomes a help in learning the courses, but can become tiresome. What makes the game really sing is the course designer, which allows a player to build their own custom course in a simple lego-like fashion using pre-rendered chunks of course. This can then be easily populated with extra elements such as jumps, ramps, obstacles and crash targets. The custom courses can then be shared online.

Frustrated Superstar
I bought Nerina Pallots 'Fires' and wasn't at first very enamoured with it, but several plays stripped away the apparent pop veneer and revealed some enchanting melodies and very powerful songwriting. A search for other cds by her revealed DFS, an album released some time before Fires and an apparent chart failure. Even the record company had stopped producing it, so I suspected it must be either very bad or very different. I picked up a copy on a promo cd and discovered that it was definitely the latter - significantly different to the folk/rock/alternative sound of her popular release. This said, all Nerina Pallots songwriting and musical skills were certainly present and although Dear Frustrated Superstar could be said to be lighter in theme to Fires, and probaly more mainstream, there are some absolutely beautiful songs on it. The first four or five tracks are good, but unremarkable, but then she seems to get into the mindset that would later produce Fires and some darkly weighted lyrics and balladic harmonies begin to appear. My personal favourite would be My Last Tango, a surpising mix of a subtle tango rhythm and some soaring melodies. If you enjoyed Fires for her music and enchanting voice, you'll enjoy DFS. If however youre looking for some kind of lyrical message such as that contained in Everyones Gone to War, i'd look elsewhere. A definite sleeper hit that sure to grow on you like flowers.
