CPU upgrade to Core 2 Extreme Quad gives new lease of life to ageing PC
I bought the QX6800 as an upgrade for my ageing Dell Dimension E520 computer. Given its age, there was no point buying a new componenent, so buying second hand on eBay made perfect sense. This CPU is the fastest that the E520 can take and in its day was the most powerful Intel CPU available. It has given the E520 a new lease of life and transformed it into a computer that will last several more years yet and still cope with the demands of modern applications. On eBay the Buy It Now price plus postage from the USA was about a quarter of the list price when new and easily comparable with new top end processors that wouldn't fit the E520 anyway. Overall, this has been a very satisfactory purchase.

Great value for a used quad core CPU.
1 von 1 finden das hilfreich I purchased this CPU for an upgrade to an older Dell E520 that I was rebuilding. The QX6700 took it to close to top spec for this machine. For a quad core CPU the price was attractive and it has met all of my expectations, scoring 7.2/7.9 on Windows 7 Experience Index. This is the second Core 2 Extreme CPU I have bought on eBay. The first was a QX6800 that I bought to install in an identical Dell E520 to the current rebuild. The QX6700 was about half the price and very nearly as good in performance. Very happy with the purchase.

Core 2 Duo Quad Extreme delivers
While this CPU may be superseded, it is the fastest one available for my older motherboard. With an unlocked multiplier, it is easy to overclock to match some of the newer processors from Intel. If you have an older board, this could give it a new lease of life.
