Repair of stripped thread on 2009 VW Fox
VW Fox caliper bolts do not fit the alignment tool. Drilled out caliper threaded holes using supplied drill and then pressed threaded insert into place with some Loctite to secure. The thread of the insert was crushed after pressing in place but could be tapped out using supplied tap. The kit has worked but it is not perfect. The inserts are not the best quality but not unexpected as they are low cost, the allen key is not ideal for VW which are Torx and the alignment tool hole was too small for VW Fox guide bolts.

Panasonic TX19LXD8
Most small LCD TV sets today are very good but, for me, the Panasonic sets stand out firstly in price and also in picture, sound and build quality. I like the high resolution capability of this set, although be aware it is not full HD (1920x1200) its only 1680x1050 - there dont seem to be many TV's of this size that are full HD. It can accept all input signals upto 1080p and resize them to the screen resolution. It is a very good set for interfacing to a PS3 or a Wii (or both) as it has HDMI and Component video interfaces. The digital tuner is fast between channels and the TV picture quality is excellent. I dont like the look, the black surround looks a little too heavy for the size of the screen, but you get used to it and I have no complaints about anything else.

Siemens Induction Hob
Purchased as a direct replacement for a Siemens ET90754 Hob. The EH975SK11E is exactly same size and fitted directly into the existing worktop cutout. The new hob came with a mains cable already "hard wired" into the hob and so access to the cooker connection unit was required. The connection cable was made up of six individual (relatively lightweight) conducters that had been paired together. I would have preferred the correct sized cable with three heavy duty conducters. The hob requires 10.8Kw so requires a 10mm supply cable and 45A mcb. The touch slider controls work very well and they can be locked to wipe clean whilst cooking . After using Halogen and Hilite the speed and response of the induction rings is impressive. The heat generated in the kitchen is noticeably less than with the previous hob, the hob stays cooler so spills are not burnt on so badly and so its easier to clean. The timers for each of the five rings is very useful as well as the simmer and boost functions. The only thing I dont like is that the small ring is at the back which means the smaller pans are behind larger and these are the ones that usually contain food that needs stirring. I cannot see any logic in putting the small ring at the back of the hob and think it would be better located at the front.
