The title is appropriate.
We are great fans of the Outlander series, and this series has much of the same appeal. I would say that it does not quite measure up to the excellence of Outlander, but it certainly works well if you are looking for a very good program to fill the “Droughtlander” periods. The characters are clearly defined with the requisite villains and heroes, and Ross and Demelza have a complicated but loving, passionate relationship. Ross’s commitment to promoting the common good is admirable, especially during a period in history when the “Haves” appear ruthlessly devoted to maintaining their lavish lifestyles while exhibiting a disdain for the severely impoverished and an active support of slavery. We are unhappy that the series will apparently end with the fifth season. There seems so much more of the story that could be told.
