Loved this book
I loved this book! It's less about the actual book club than it is about the bonds of friendship in this close-knit group of friends. The book club was just an excuse for the women to get together which I thought was fabulous. It made me want to start a book club of my own just to get away from the kids every now and then. This book had a little of everything: a lot of humor, a little tragedy, children, husbands, friendships, marriage, divorce, lonliness, fear, condfidence, doubt.
I also loved how the book was written so that you got to experience the story from the point of view of each of the book club members over a span of several decades. It's almost as if you become part of the book club yourself and grow with the other members over time. The characters were interesting, however I thought they were heavily stereotyped (the sex kitten, the shy one, the opinionated one, the one with secrets, etc.); this didn't seem to bother me terribly since that's how my friends and I seem to categorize each in real life, so in that respect the stereotypes were believable, just a little forced.
The book was easy to pick up after putting down (not that you'll want to put it down), but if you're the type of busy person who's only able to read in short, quick bursts, you won't be lost when you pick it back up later.

Great "Scary" Movie for Kids 7+
My 7 year old wanted to watch a "scary" movie, so I thought this one might be worth seeing. It wasn't too scary for her, but some of the concepts went right over her head. She still enjoyed watching it, and it is definitely worth seeing again. She got all the spooky and creepy vibes she was hoping for without the nightmares. Great family flick!

Love these ornaments!
The storyteller ornaments are really fun! Plug them in with their companion ornaments using the Keepsake cord, and they interact with each other using lights and sound to tell a story. I've heard a few complaints about having to use a special cord to power this, but I think it really does need to be plugged in separately from the rest of the lights on the tree to keep from overheating light strands. These are a big hit with my family...we have 5 of the 7 ornaments in this series so far, and the story lasts around 5 minutes. You don't need to have all the ornaments in the series to hear the story.
