The new Sigma 100-400mm on a Canon 6D full frame
2 von 2 finden das hilfreich The Sigma 100-400mm DG OS HSM is a new contender in the super zoom class. I got one of the first and has used it for 6 weeks and one one-week nature and trekking trip to Picos de Europa (birds, nature, trekking and butterflies).
The lens is sharp, even at 400mm, has a good OS/IS, focuses fast and accurate and its 200 gram lighter the old Canon L, but it's still a bit heavy and a tripodcolar is the only thing i'm missing.
It's difficult to see the difference to my old 300mm L
The close focus is acceptable, but it would have been nice with even closer focusing for butterflies.
The aperture is a bit slow and even with OS/IS, I missed some low light shots of an owl (but did the same with a Canon 300mm L and another night bird two years ago).
The lens is to slow for stable focusing with extenders (has tried with Kenko's 1.4 and 2 300 Pro and an old Teleplus 2),
Its also compact and i look forward to another travel with it

Canon AF lenses on Sony A7
The adapter is light, but fits well.
The AF is a bit slow an hunts. It s ok for landscape, but not for fast moving objects. The AF also hunts with native lenses, but a bit less.
I'm primary using the adopter with manual focus and focus peaking - it's fast and makes great photos.
My main wide angel for my A7 is Sigma 17-35mm with an AF defect, but its very good with MF. Its also very good with my Canon 85mm 1.8, my Tokina 400mm 5.6 or my Sigma 105mm OS macro (full frame macro photo is something special)
The adapter dosen't work with older 3 party lenses (eg. my Sigma 400mm or my Tokina 20-35mm).
