US cut of brilliant film badly edits the original British film
I bought the English tape, one of the most delightful British "period" comedies ever. So naturally I got the CD. But for reasons I can't imagine, many scenes are abruptly and awkwardly cut, most objectionably the final soliloquy of the soubrette, "We truly rule the world, the Sun and I." Unhappily, British CDs are incompatible with US technology. So the only way to see this marvelous movie is to locate an original videotape.
It's still a wonder. But tiny executive brains seem capable of pissing in any pitcher of fresh water.
