Snow blower drive belt
Appears to be much better quality than others I've bought. Used on a 42" garden tractor snow blower, the kevlar belt is the only way to go. Standard v-belts are not really designed for both twisting and turning and don't last long, if they will even work. We've had a lot of snow this year and one of the imported kevlar belts only lasted about an hour when I got into a heavy drift. The original craftsman belt had been on the machine for several years, but Sears tends to over price things. The American made Stens belt looks to be better quality than the original and definitely appears better than the Indian made D&D.

There may be a way to use it with some accuracy, but right out of the box you cannot use it because the nylon alignment button will not fit flat on the pinion gear.

HP DV8T I7 820
Despite reviews I've seen on Amazon, my first day of use has been quite satisfying. This is my second HP, and like my HDX 16 which is quite similar in design, it has an array of built-in touch keys that provide quick access to sound and media controls. I did have some initial sound control problems with the HDX similar to some of the complaints about the DV8's, but so far this machine has worked perfectly out of the box. Perhaps as a factory refurb HP reworked some bugs out, but that's only a guess. I haven't used a blu-ray disk in the drive yet, but with two monitors configured as separate screens, and viewing DVD movies at the same time as downloading programs and surfing the net, I have no complaints about sound, video and multitasking. Even though it's a factory refurb, everything appears brand new and the initial start-up went flawlessly. Windows 7 is a bit odd compared to Vista, but that's normal for Microsquish when they change features. As has been commented on before, the unit is a bit big, but I wanted a full feature desktop replacement so it will not be used much as a mobile platform. I have used so many laptops at work over the years that I stay away from the sadly merged Compac/HP computers along with Micron and a few of the others. The Dell I currently use for work is a great machine, but with far fewer features then the DV8. With wireless networking, a large screen, HDMI, a full size keyboard with numeric pad, multi card reader (SD, etc), TV tuner, Bluetooth (haven't tried it yet), etc. this machine should do just about anything I can think of. Windows 7 pro is supposed to be able to run a Vista/XP compatibility mode, so I'm hoping my older Autocad will run along with some of my other legacy software. Well see, but that's more an MS issue than an HP one. I've had the HDX for about two years now without problems, and as this new machine is to replace an outstanding older Dell desktip, hopes are high it will serve as well as the Dell, plus much more. I looked at numerous newer designs when considering a new machine, (HP Envy, Sony, Dell, etc.) but considering my multimedia wants, full size screen, external ports, Blue Ray, etc, and wanted to try the Core I7, there wasn't anything else out there, especially for the price. Good luck to all who read this, and I hope HP will faithfully resolve any issues others have had with the DV8's.
