MORE Korngold magnificence
A worthy successor to the first Korngold collection in the RCA/Charles Gerhardt series 'The Sea Hawk'. Perhaps a few fewer tracks of note than the first, but the exciting opening suite from the title-film, as well as the great excerpts from Prince and the Pauper make the disc well-worth owning. In addition, an impossibly lushly-treated theme from 'Anthony Adverse' and the nicely melodic set from 'Another Dawn' make the disc irresistible. Excellent recording too, as for all the releases in this series!

Bacharach mixed results
Many of the cuts could've been dropped for better ones (even a songwriting master like Burt had lesser efforts alongside his standouts). However, like most Ace CDs, there are some top-notch non-hit tracks that rarely, if ever, turn up on other compilations - which make this collection indispensable for Bacharach enthusiasts. Audio remastering is excellent too, as always with Ace.

Couldn't be more satisfied with this CD!!!
Maybe the first version of this work to be issued on CD - and still top notch in every way. Playing is wonderfully executed without ever sounding routine, and the early digital recording is immaculately transparent! Best of all are the vocal tracks featuring soprano Lucia Popp; 'Solveig's Song' and, especially, the 'Cradle Song' are acquitted with most superb singing and orchestral accompaniment. Should also be noted this recording comprises the full incidental music- not the shorter 2 suites commonly heard. A+
