Analog recording is not dead
Why are you reading this? Physical media are an evolutionary dead-end? No one uses cassettes any more, right?
Well, if you're still reading you're probably a die-hard analog type and should use the best tape you can buy today. The TDK "SA- Super Avilyn family- are excellent- they deliver sparkling highs. and behave well if overloaded. TDK have the finest, longest-lasting mechanisms in the industry - far superior to other brands. They show zero drop-outs and almost perfect consistency, plus they age very well- I'm still listening to stuff I recorded 20 years ago and it's still good.
There may be a few outliers that perform a little better, like some metallic types, but they're not worth the added cost in today's world, IMO.
REMEMBER -- the bias settings in your deck need to be adjusted for WHATEVER particular tape you're using. It made a massive difference in sound quality when I had my deck serviced this year and the bias optimized for TDK Type II. Be cool and say "Rolling" like you mean it...
Oh, and stock-up. The SA lines were "withdrawn" in 2012 by TDK/Imation.

Excellent "Vintage" Amp
1 von 1 finden das hilfreich I have used this amp in a variety of configurations through the years, finding it especially versatile since it allows a bridged configuration with a nominal 175 watt output into 8 ohms. It will run all day at that output too. It’s punchy and clean, more detailed in the mids than the later MOS-FET designs, and always maintaining great control of the woofers. Note the amps in this series can all be mixed-and-matched since they all have 29dB gain, handy if you’re considering multi-amping. This is a great vintage amp, very sweet sound, no gimmicks, for a reasonable price. If you only need 50wpc, this is the ticket. My amp still seems perfect and I am NOT considering replacing the power supply caps or anything like that at this point- there may be a time, but if it sounds good it is good. Excellent steel cab, quality binding post speaker terminals- seems indestructible.

Excellent price/performance
These actually did snap right in, with a little careful coaxing from a 1/8" flat blade screwdriver to snap the springy plastic ring under the last 1-2 tabs on the headphone. Well made, look exactly like stock, and very comfortable. They make a good seal so the noise-cancelling works fine. (I'd say don't buy the kits with the headband, unless your headband is totally trashed. Look at it closely, it appears the headband padded cover can't be replaced without cutting out the old padding off and the velcro-on replacement looks little cheezy.)
