Little Seen Nightmare from the Past
Fascinating and little seen in the United States, WITCHHAMMER is a horror film in the best tradition of the word. It contains compelling characters and incredible visuals. This is a movie that should be seen as its values and themes never seem to get old despite it being a film 50 years old about events several hundred years in the past- and even incorporating actual texts from that era.
The Blu-ray from Second Run is pretty damn good too. The picture is awesome and there are a couple of extras that are not "time-sinks" and may even surprise fans of director David Lynch. This is a great movie and a great disc. Get them.

The Alpha and Omega of the Czech New Wave and a Great Blu-Ray
Long unavailable in the US, the Second Run blu-ray of Milos Forman's BLACK PETER is a welcome addition to any film library. This is one of the late late Mr. Forman's first films, and its credits feature many creators who would go on to make some of the best films of the Czech New Wave of the mid-1960s. It's also a pretty good movie with an engaging main character forever enduring the warped values of family, peers, and co-workers. The disc also includes archival interviews and commentary which help describe the film's place in cinema history. Worth a purchase as this and many other films released by Second Run are.
