Canon 40D? I'm saving for a 50D or 60D
I bought this product for its raw buffer size. I bought my 40D on ebay from dealtree, was in great cosmetic shape. However, there are several problems. I have to open and close the battery cover before I turn it on or I will get an Er99 message. I do not have to take out the battery, just open and close the battery door.
Also the Settings for contrast, vibrance, etc are not acceptable in their default modes. I have to be carefull to set these modes to produce an acceptable skin tone. In the shade, Skin tones look oily for some reason. This also may be because the LCD monitor might be out of wack.
Another problem, the camera does not remember all the adjustments I make after turning it off, it remembers some, but not all.
It does not follow the picture review order specified in the manual. I get the picture review with the histograms instead of the full image and have to push the info button to get the full screen view of the picture.
The option to view the camera shooting information is only avaliable if you push the info button. If I want to doublecheck my shooting info by glancing at my camera while shooting, I have to stop and push a button. Unfortunatly my Rebel XT has better controls and renders more accurate colors and skin tones.
I continue to use my 40D because of its Raw buffer size and try to ignore the sometimes awful results I see on the LCD screen. I can usually edit things with CS3. I wish I could get accurate color and skin tone reproduction like that of my Rebel Xt on this camera that is supposed to be more advanced by 3 or 4 years.
