A MUST FOR MILES DAVIS AND GUITAR FANS ALIKE
This CD was something I first heard about ten years ago, on vinyl, working at a vintage record store. I had never come across one on CD, and I'm pretty sure it was out of print for a while. So I get into the internet and Ebay, very late, and it hits me to look this up. I find it, but I'm initially put off by the pricing (about $15 -$35). Time goes by, I find one for $10 and decide to jump on it - and I'm glad I did. This album is killer - i'ts got a lot of the trademark Miles elements. The repetitive grooves/vamps are remenicent of the "Big Fun" period, but the settings were more up to date - often sounding more hard-hitting, than 'groovy' or 'funky'. There are 'heads', but even for jazz or bop, they seem very much secondary to the solos. Which leads me to mention two of my fave guitarists - Mike Stern and John Scofield - both(!) are featured here and are both relatively young. Especially Stern, who only had a brief stint in Blood, Sweat, and Tears, and tore up the Boston club scene for a few years beforehand. This was, along with Miles' "Man with the Horn" and "We Want Miles", his first big recorded break as a jazz soloist. He plays great - I dig his tone a little better here - it sounds a little fatter, which is probably from less Chorus effect, which he sometimes oversaturates with. His lines have an inventiveness and freshness about them here that sound great - at times I wasn't sure if it were he or Scofield playing because of the note choices; but You always know when he kicks in the hard rock licks (again benefited by fatter tone). John Scofield had already being playing and touring quite a few years with groups like Bill Cobham and George Duke (sometimes both at once). But after seeing some of that live footage, I'd have to say he sounds way more developed and way more "Sco" on this. This maybe when he started putting it all together. His ideas are great as always. It's always refreshing for me to hear him in a more Bop setting, after listening to the more recent M.M.W. stuff, which is great, but sometimes limited vocabulary-wise. Anyway, I'm obviously a guitar player and don't have as much to say about the other guys, Except for together the make a great sound. Marcus Miller is amazing - great funk and feel. Miles plays spirited throughout - this was his 'comeback' period - no drugs or booze. He's always great in his understated way, kind of the less-is-more school of playing. The cool thing about that is that style leads you to shock more, because it's unexpected ("Woah, where'd that come from?"). He definately does that here. The only reason I would not give this 5 stars is that this version was not remastered. I kind of like the crude, almost 'recorded in your basement' sound, but I think the general e.q. suffers, especially the bass levels (which would sound killer if they were right). I would recommend either CD - not remastered for $10-15, or the remastered from $15-35 or whatever. If the remaster is not that much more then the original, I would definately go for that; I'm sure it would be well worth it. A hidden gem for Miles and guitar fans.
Donner Digital Octave Guitar Effect Pedal Harmonic Square 7 modes Local Shipping

This pedal is a steal
Great value. Sounds great, especially the 1 octave down setting. Tracks very well. Can also use to fine tune (close enough) to various songs that aren't A440, which is handy if you are jamming along to the radio or various cds, etc.. That signal isn't going to be as good as your original sound, but it's pretty good (and you notice that less if you're playing with another track). Pretty handy! The detune setting gives a nice sounding chorus that seems similar to the Whammy pedal setting.. for everything this pedal does, it's very good bargain
1Set Tuners 3x3 Guitar Locking Tuners for Acoustic Electric Guitar JN03-SP Gold

Great value, great function
Bought for a 90s Les Pau studio I've had since mid 90s. The guitar has gold hardware and these look great on there. I've only had locking tuners on one other guitar and they are slightly different (PRS custom). Even that guitar will go out with excessive bending, etc.. So with that in mind, and not knowing what else to compare to, these seem to work great and as well as the PRS. There are times where it seems there is intonation problems depending on where I am on the neck, but I'm pretty sure it's more of a neck issue and not the tuners. So these seem to work as they should, yeah.
