Wholesome Reading for Young Girls!
In this day and age it is so hard to find wholesome, well-written books for our daughters to read. This book (and series) satisfies both. Carrie Bender weaves a lively tale around the Petersheim family, a Pennsylvania Amish family. Hard work, love, and laughter are mixed with mystery and surprise when Nacy Petersheim spends the summer helping her sister and brother-in-law on their new farm.

Not Just for Those Who Suffer Panic Attacks
Written with anecdotes and a bit of humor, Ray Comfort gives Biblical advice to those who are in the grips of anxiety, depression, and panic attacks. If you have suffered in the past or currently suffer from any of these conditions or know anyone who does, this book will be very helpful and insightful. It's very compact, so it's a fairly quick read for anyone. Mr. Comfort tells of his own horrifying experience with panic attacks and includes a brief explanation of the biology of a panic attack and how to counter some of it's effects immediately. As always with Ray Comfort, it contains a very clear and concise Gospel presentation. Without diminishing the seriousness of panic attacks, Mr. Comfort makes it abundantly clear to the reader that they must make peace with God through repentance and faith before addressing the attacks / anxiety/ depression.

BEWARE...
1 von 4 finden das hilfreich I purchased this DVD because I remember watching this movie on TV when I was young. I thought it would be a nice family movie for our children to watch with us. But I was very wrong. If you truly know the Scriptures and value them you will find much fault with this movie. A LOT of sensuality was added to the text, which I think is how the unsaved do see certain parts of the Bible. Just because Adam and Eve wore no clothing in the garden doesn't mean we must show almost everything on screen as this movies does. We don't need to see Sarai's cleavage and her private romantic moments with Abram to understand that she was a fair woman as the Bible says. It's clear that this movie was intended to shock and push boundaries for its time--all in the name of the Bible. This is how people are gradually desensitized. As seen in the previous 5 star reviews of this movie, it worked. Other problems: Abel says to Cain what God said to Cain in the Bible; Noah shuts the door to the ark and God simply "locks" it unlike the Bible tells it (this disrupts the theological picture Noah's ark is intended to draw--it is God who seals our salvation in the day of Judgement--not us or our works) and many, many other instances where Scripture is misquoted, quoted out of context, or where humanistic ideals are inserted into the meaning of the text. I wasn't discerning as a child, but I am now as the Bible says believers should be. PLEASE folks, read your Bible and value it for what it is--the Word of God Himself. Not something we can play around with for entertainment's sake. The only kind thing I can say about this movie is that when the Bible is quoted, it is quoted straight from the King James (though sometimes out of context or narrative is added on) and the cinematography was very well done for the time. Looks hokey now, but for the time it was well done. Unfortunately, the only thing "classic" about this film is its attempt to undermine the Bible. It's a shame because this really could have been a classic if it had been done right.
