Good as a backup bow
I bought this Brazilwood bow along with a Pernambuco bow from the same maker to compare them, the later being the better performer, but the Brazilwood still has good sound making it decent for learning with. I wasn't expecting too much for the price I paid, but it's still a good deal and I feel it will be fine as a backup bow. The craftsmanship isn't as meticulous as the Pernambuco, but that's probably the general price difference talking.
This Brazilwood bow in particular though had a slight warp to it from the top view, from the tip to the handle but it still sounds similar to my old Brazilwood bow in performance. The sound is softer than my Carbon bows, yet not as clean as the Pernambuco bow.
I'd recommend this Brazilwood bow as a backup bow, or for someone learning who doesn't want to spend a lot, or if you need a bow for someone who is prone to using them in sword fights. If there are no sword fights involved, I would upgrade to a Pernambuco even for learning as it makes it easier to blend the notes together.

Pernambuco is where it's at.
I wanted to know what the difference was between the Pernambuco bow, the Brazilwood, and the Carbon so I got one of each by the same maker. This bow in particular is made with better attention to detail, the bow is indeed straight and balanced, the craftsmanship and sound is much better than the Brazilwood. While it has a nice clean sound to it, the Carbon bow was more rich with the sound. If I were to pick one for learning with, I would choose the Pernambuco, if I were accident prone I would buy a Brazilwood to start with over a Carbon because the sound of the Brazilwood has a more fluid feel to it. Eventually try them all to experience how they produce sound differently.
