My kitties love it!
My cats have always liked running water and I've made it clear I wasn't going to leave the faucet on all day for them! in the past I've had Drinkwell fountains. I've liked the fountains themselves but cleaning them was a pain and they had a tendency to leak. I'd seen the ceramic ones in stores and admired how attractive they were. They were also quite expensive! I was happy to find this one on EBay! The price was good and I have really liked the fountain and my kitties are quite happy with it, too. It's easy enough to put together and let's just say the design is rather ingenious--barring a crack in the ceramic, I don't see how it could leak ever--and it's not too hard to clean! The color is also attractive. The pump is very quiet, but the water does splash. I personally don't have a problem with that but some of the reviews I'd read mentioned it. Overall, nice product!

Thought-provoking Book
1 von 1 finden das hilfreich I'd first read this book as a teen. I read it again in 2007 as preparation for a trip to the Ukraine and lately I had the urge to read it again. Reading this book--it's hard to imagine that the author was only in his early twenties--he lived such a brutal life that one would've thought he was older. The book is an autobiography of Sergei Kourdakov's life--from being orphaned as a young child and raised in Soviet institutions to living on the streets to eventually becoming a rising star in the Russian Communist Party. The reason the book is named as it is is because Sergei was hand-picked to lead a secret unit whose sole objective was to rid Communist Russia of her greatest threat--the underground church. He eventually becomes disillusioned with Communism and finds deliverance in the very Church he tried to destroy. Eventually he defected to Canada.
I highly recommend this book. Not because it's particularly good writing--although it is a good read--but more because of the story it tells. Many people have little knowledge of what Communist Russia was really like and, as a wise man has said, those who forget history are bound to repeat it. This is a young man who lived it, believed fiercely in it, and ultimately was thoroughly disillusioned by it.

Great book, great price!
I love this book. When I tell people about it and encourage them to read it, I tell them it will not win any literary awards for the writing style but the content grabs you by the gut and gives it a twist for good measure. This is one book of three that I procured for my dad. He'd read mine--wanted a copy for himself and a couple more to give to friends. At this price, you can do that and the free shipping was awesome, too! I'm glad this book can still be found!
