This Is the One You Want
1 von 1 finden das hilfreich Dr. Hook has a million greatest hits comps, and most are pretty good. But for me, this one's perfect. Not only does it have all of the hits, but has the best fan favorites and album cuts I was looking for-- in particular, "Sleeping Late" and "Everybody's Making It Big but Me", which can't be said for most of the other compilations.

Yeah, You Know… The 90s
Remember bumming around with your friends, hanging out in coffee shops and just wherever while some folk-ish, jangle rock chimed away in the background? Yeah, this is that kind of music. And like most of those bands, just one or two hits on the album. In this case, the theme from Friends. But the rest of L.P. isn’t bad, either. Not as bouncy as that hit, but it’s got that warm, comfy atmosphere to it. Just don’t expect anything revelatory. This is purely for the nostalgia.

Coda
This album gets a bad rap. Sure some songs seem under-developed and sound quality is less than optimal. But you have to accept it for what it is: leftover stuff, demos, and falloff that wasn’t released before— except for two random A sides that were added for whatever reason. Later the last show before Ian Curtis’ death was tacked onto the end— and it was probably never intended to be released, but who can deny the historic importance of it, however bad the sound quality? Still was never meant to be a definitive compilation, but rather unreleased curios for the fan base. If you can forgive the comparison with any post punk band’s natural enemy, it is to them what Coda is to Led Zeppelin. And if you have Substance, Unknown Pleasures and Closer, but not the Heart and Soul boxed set, Still is a great way to round out your collection.
