"The Ritz" - Lightweight 70's comedy worth a look

"The Ritz" is a 70's screwball comedy set in a New York gay bathhouse based on the play by legendary Broadway playwright Terrence McNally. (McNally also wrote the screenplay.) The film is occasionally funny but populated by one-note characters. The stereotypical portrayal of both the Italian and gay communities as well as Mafia-types date the film to it's decade.

An excellent review of Lady Day's career.

An excellent and comprehensive review of Lady Day's career with music chosen from all the labels for which she recorded. The DVD is a also a timepiece with short films that also span her career. The liner notes and session documentation encapsulate that golden age of American jazz. Nice keepsake packaging as well.
