los ultimos dias del am

I heard a piece from this CD on one of those cable TV music stations late at night and found it ... compelling. A mix of city noises, voices, instruments, I felt transported to some unknown, yet exotic country. Quite interesting, definitely a keeper.

I Wanna Make My Own Clothes by Clea Hantman (2006)

I bought this book for my 12 year old, who has never sewn in her life. Originally, I checked it out at the library (where I work( for myself, but she found it and decided she wanted to try making clothes from T-shirts herslef. She ended up making a sewing bag (which she designed all on her own, which totally shocked me!), stocking it with supplies, and making oodles of cool t-shirts to wear for the summer. A BIG hit with pre-teens, and I would imagine, bonafide teenagers, too.

Fix-It and Forget-It Cookbook by Dawn J. Ranck, Phyllis

I bought this cookbook for my 24 year old daughter, who just moved in with her fiance. I work in a library, and it's a very popular checkout book for almost every age group imaginable. Although I've been cooking for 30 years, I found a couple of recipes that I just love, and knew it would be a good starter cookbook for my daughter. It has easy to follow recipes, and the consensus of the people I work with (who have bought the book themselves, not wanting just to "borrow" it from the library) is, it's a great slow-cook cookbook.
