Really Quite Good, Actually!
The U.S. Special Forces 200-Hour Familiarization Language Courses appear to have been published in the period from around the late-1990’s through the middle-2000’s. The approach to teaching in the course manuals is quite conventional. Nevertheless, the materials have been prepared with great care, they include sufficient examples and exercises as well as an Answer Key and they could very easily serve in an independent-learning context. An additional point in favour of these courses is that they cover a broad range of less-frequently-studied languages for which substantial materials are often difficult to find. A CEFR A1 level is likely possible with these materials. Definitely worth the price!

Excellent! For SERIOUS language students!
Regrettably, circa 2012, Random House withdrew the majority of their self-instructional language courses of which their Living Language "Ultimate" series was one of the very finest available, most particularly their "Ultimate Advanced" courses which offered the student extended intermediate-level conversations, an excellent review of the L2 grammar, all accompanied by high quality audio recordings. These courses were so highly prized that used copies once sold in $2,000 price range! SERIOUS LANGUAGE STUDENTS would do themselves a huge service by adding a copy to their collection of study materials ... seriously!

FSI/DLI courses in PDF/MP3 format
The FSI/DLI language courses of the 1960's-1970's were amongst the best ever produced. Although a very small portion of the vocabulary in these courses is somewhat dated, these language-learning materials remain relevant.
