Highly Recommended
I was not aware of this work until I stumbled across it, looking for Bach's St. Matthew Passion.
Although much of it is plainchant (monophonic), it is nonetheless a moving meditation for Holy Week.
Director Paul Hillier is also the baritone who sings the part of the Narrator. He directs a group he calls the "Theatre of Voices;" blend and balance are exemplary. The recording from 1994 is first-class.
