The end of an era....
This coaling station fits in perfectly with the end of the steam era. Not to complex, yet not so simple it strips away the intent of the object. Most of the heavy duty and complex coaling stations by now on the prototype have been torn down except for the few remaining, and those are the simplest things to do the job right.
This unit represents that era, and it fits perfectly well. 50's - to the end of steam. One thing you need to figure out is this - there needs to be a track running thru those legs of the unit to dump coal into the pit for the elevator on the other side to pick up and put into the coal house. Once you complete this the unit is perfect for any late steam era railroading. Now add a decent water tower along side this and you have a steam refueling station.

Silo and a half
Basically this unit makes what it shown. it is nice design and fits in perfectly anywhere you need a grain or cement silo to fill from trackside. However - this kit comes with a lot of extra pats which mystified me. Lots of extra parts as if this is only part of the kit - someplace there is a whole kit, and I am not sure what it all entails. There needs to be a shed for the hoses and other thing which are needed to unload hoppers. Not in the kit -- your guess is as good as mine.
If you want a set of silos to complement your pike, this will fit the bill. I am happy with mine and saved the other parts for later kit bashing of other stuff.

Food and drink
Someplace I posted on the Plasticville coaling tower, that is a very nice unit. Clean and looks good for late steam era. This complements it. Placed next to it this will make for a complete refueling station on your pike.
Easy to build, looks good when done, but one note. Keep it at least a half inch away from the tracks when placed as the chain hanging down tends to hit high cars. Just set it back a bit, and you will be okay.
