Wonderfully acted, quintessential Indo British drama.
Possibly the best historical drama the UK has produced. Has lasting appeal, despite the terrible nature of the Raj and it's terrible oppression of the Indian peoples and the atrocity that was partition. This version is very well enhanced considering the quality of the original broadcast and previous DVD releases. Highly recommended.

A beautiful thing, but expensive for what it is.
As a Factory collector, whose favourite band of all time is ACR, this was something of a must, given both it's rarity, and the inclusion of live tracks from the time of the three albums included unavailable elsewhere other than these Japanese Birdsong releases.
It would have been amazing to have included ACRs two other Factory released studio albums, or even the Japanese Old & New release, but I'm fairly sure this label didn't have the rights to other ACR albums.
The box and CDs are great, and the extra tracks pretty good for live recordings, at least as good as any on the "Live in Groningen" LTM release.
There is actually room for 5 CDs in the box.
So, ultimately, lovely, especially for the avid collector, but rather expensive.
