Fine introduction to Seurat
An abridgement essentially, in a smaller format, of Robert L. Herbert's very fine earlier study "Georges Seurat 1859-1891" Metropolitan Museum of Art, NY, Abrams, 1991, which is superior but relatively rare.

aGreat account
This is the only detailed account of the battle for Culp's Hill on the second day of the three day battle at Gettysburg that is known to this reader. It is simply unsurpassed for its somewhat obscure subject. Maps are excellent, though it would have been helpful to have included a regional map for the opening chapters that summarize military movements leading to the initial encounter on the first day, but these are provided in the first volume of the trilogy. A fourth volume covering the third day ('Pickett's Charge') was never completed by the author. The second volume covers Hood's & McLaws's divisions attack against Sickle's advanced V Corps culminating in the struggle for Little Round Top. Pfanz was the official NPS historian at the battlefield and the three books exhibit his exceptional knowledge & research. Eminently readable for those with abiding interest in this great battle.

A+
Very fine overview of Mongolian art. Especially interesting is the chapter devoted to the legendary 17th c. sculptor Zanabazar (Dzanabadzar) whose works adorned many Buddhist temples in Mongolia and Tibet. This is surely the most important book on Mongolian art available in English. The illustrations are all in color, plentiful, and exceptionally fine.
