Good clean intelligent fun
Here is an altogether opulent creation which manages to be hilarious without being frivolous! If you enjoy chaste, wholesome, and thought-provoking entertainment from an era when people had well-furnished minds, you will enjoy Jeannie. In the episodes which I've watched so far, I've met the Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam (one stanza superbly delivered by Barbara Eden), Harun al Rashid, an allusion to Caesar's Gallic Wars, Nebuchadnezzar, and more besides. Feeble-minded modern phobiaphiles, who like to find stories about trivial playground insults on the national media, will be horrified if they try to watch Jeannie: but robust and healthy-minded people of all ages will enjoy it enormously. If you're sixty or over, buy it now as a secret Christmas present for yourself. Then make your grandchildren watch it, one episode per week.
