Unusual and something that little bit different.
Great mix of Sherlock Holmes / Conan Doyle theme & Lovecraftian themes.
Takes a bit of rules reading but well worth the effort. It seems the second edition has fixed the issues with the first edition.

When you need a Twilight Imperium "snack" rather than main meal!
Awesome game for the 3 hour sort of mark. Great with 3 to 4 players, can't comment on more yet. Has enough complexity to provide a variety of strategies to take to an end game and win. Combat not 100% necessary, although I'd find it hard to manage a game without any. Solid challenge for solid gamers, not for the occasional gamer. Probably requires 25 mins to explain to the new player to get them going and enjoy their first game.
I've not played the first edition, but all reviews indicate the changes made to this revision were solid improvementments. I can only say it's an excellent and fun game for those who like a Space Opera.

Greater than the Sum of it's Parts!
This is one of those rare expansions that really improves the base game in every way. It addresses a few issues (mostly only ones that come with repeated plays) and adds great value to the base game in new and interesting components and gameplay options. If you have the base game, play it regularly and enjoy what is in the box already then this expansion is definitely a buy it the moment you can find it.
