Vintage: 753g Japanese Natural Sharpening stone Pre-Finishing /

Excellent stone producing fast nagura, and doing a great a job on a variety of knives

This vintage stone did a great job in sharpening a few of my knives. The process did not take a long time. I just sprinkled a little water and went ahead right away. Very soon after I started, plenty of nagura was produced and the sharpening went as smoothly as any I have been involved in. I used the stone on Japanese as well as German knives. It worked well on both. I used this stone alone, even though it was recommended to me as a middle process stone. I did not do early, middle, and finish stones. Just the one that is the subject of this review because I do not have the time. And IT WORKED!!

Excellent: sharp n balanced

In addition to elegant looking knife, this Cutco butcher knife is sharp and really well balanced. It is a joy to hold in hands. Have not used it yet butchering any thing, but it is very promising!

Smaller Reel for Fishing the Bottom

For its line counter and its levelwind features, I like these Saltist reels. However, the size of the model 30 may not the be the best I could have gotten. I wish I got the model 20 instead, with its narrower spool, and therefore potentially better stability, that is less wobbly as one reels in line. These saltist reels operate well, and have a reasonably smooth drag. The line reeling speed at 35" per turn, is average. I did not check the line counter accuracy. But I know the measurements are consistent, and that helps going down to the same spot, drop after drop. The counter display could have been made simpler and therefore more visible. All in all a good reel, but not very special.
