This version of early history defined with mythology, vage on real facts.
1 von 1 finden das hilfreich I bought this in researching early Irish history prior to the foreign conquest. With early Irish history being somewhat mystical in nature, there are real facts, real people and events that occurred at known places. The early part of the book, Kings and Battles, very hard to follow. Names, places and battles listed one after another without a unifying context. Other sources fill in this era much better. The bell of St Patrick pictured is not a bell, but a housing for the bell, Commissioned by Domnall MacLochlainn, High King of Ireland, between A.D. 1091-1105. Key sources were left out, the Annals of Ulster, Tigernach and Innishfallen. Irish King lists would also have helped to tie people and times together. As for the rest of the book, of foreign conquest and domination, mostly fairly well documented by both sides with their own bias, history beyond my research direction.

it is exactly what it is.
It is a research resource with organized historical data for genealogy research. So not like a daily reader. It is one of top resource in the study of family history.
