Fairport Convention, in name only
It's Fairport, but only long after the glory days.
Post Sandy Denny and Richard Thompson, it was never going to be the same.

A long underrated rock Icon - Mick Ronson
This is a stupendous compilation but most Bowie / Ronson / Hunter fans will have the majority of the tracks already.
There are so many other highlights from the career of Mick Ronson, legendary sideman and all round musical prodigy, but this selection is a start.
Good cover images and sleeve notes. An album to lose yourself in on Saturday mornings, when you have time and space to give it your full attention.
A 'Moonage Daydream' from start to finish.

Valerio Massimo Manfredi - a top classical scholar and wonderful storyteller
Manfredi's historical novels, set in the classical world of ancient Greece, Egypt and Rome, deserve to be better known.
He is read to best advantage in Italian though I believe translated editions are widely available.
I already had the first two in the Alèxandros trilogy and am delighted to have finally tracked down the third.
