molded in color
I got this kit on the first bid, like it was the will of the Force.
It was still factory sealed but issued back in the early 1980s, so there was one odd issue.
Inside the sealed part bag, which was in the factory sealed box, somehow over the decades this box had been so tumbled around that all the parts had come off the sprues.
That means there were no part numbers, no clues to where the parts go beyond the pictures in the instruction sheet.
If you get one like this don't panic, there aren't a lot of parts and test fitting before glue will help you sort it all out.
It comes molded in a really cool gold-tone plastic, which I made use of but as you can see from the pictures, I did something a little weird.
I call it Fe-3PO.

The Devil's in the decals

The water-slide decal sheet I had didn't slide off the backing easily, decals were difficult to reposition.
The instructions recommend applying many of the decals before assembly is complete.
Some decals, like the blast guards for the maneuvering thrusters, the instructions say to lay down before adding the thrusters themselves.
I took that to mean I should glue a small part to a decal, something that runs counter to my decades of model building experience.
The cockpit glass decals are awesome, but not for the inexperienced builder.
All that said this is a great kit from a TV show I enjoyed in my youth, I recommend it for builders of moderate experience.
I built this one as a birthday gift for my woman (what can I say, she likes purple).

my go-to for good reason
Jet superglue is all I work with for good reason, but slow jet is my favorite because like it says, it's a slower than average cure. That gives me time to reposition a piece or fix a mistake.
It's also gooey enough as it cures to fill small gaps between misfit parts.
I've been a model and prop builder for over 45 years, and I won't use anything else.
