I have been using TDK blank media for more years than I care to remember - okay - since 1976, when I bought my first Hi-Fi cassette deck. These Blu-ray Discs are a great product - it’s possible to get 10 hours of recordings in SP mode, which means you can get the contents of three E180 videotapes on one disc with no loss of quality. In DR mode you can copy from HDD to disc in high speed mode which can give 21 hours of recording per disc in same quality as broadcast.

Absolutely ghastly
There are many disc burn software items like this on eBay - usually illustrated by a glossy looking package containing everything you need to copy music and photos on your pc to a disc to view or play in a DVD or CD player. What you actually get is a copied version of an instal CD in a paper sleeve. There are no instructions for installation or use. Once the instal disc is in the DVD Writer of your pc the installation itself is quick; but once this is done there is no desktop icon to take you straight where you want to go - you have to search for it in the programs section in the control panel menu. Unlike Windows Media Player, the program doesn’t even open automatically when you load a blank disc in your pc. Once into the copy menu don’t bother trying to copy anything in VMA format because this piece of junk won’t do it. Give it a wide berth 0/10

Superb series
Van Der Valk underwent several transformations in its run from 1972 to 1992 - the only constant being Barry Foster in the title role. No less than three actresses took the role of his wife Arlette; his bosses also came and went, as did his cigar puffing and heavy drinking (whilst on duty when possible!) Series 1 was the best for me, with interesting characters and unusual stories. The often maligned Michael Latimer plays Insp. Johnny Kroon, Pete Van Der Valk's sidekick in the first two series. In later episodes the stories became repetitive, with corpses being discovered on barges on at least two occasions. Series 4 & 5, with the format extended to 1 hour 45 instead of the previous 51 minutes don't work as well - I struggled to keep attention. All told 8/10 Mark James Burden
