Hi, I'm Rita Michele! I've had a passion for all thing vintage since the 1980s. Currently I'm the proprietess of Maraud Vintage, a boutique & gift shop located in my 1908 home. I feature a carefully curated collection of goodies--vintage, antique, handmade, preloved, & upcycled treasures. I'm here to share them with a wider customer base. Marauding in the sense of my boutique name conjures dreams of adventure, discovery, exploration & preservation of the past, toward a more meaningful, sustainable future. Balkan Beat Box by Balkan Beat Box CD
I chose this CD after watching belly dance videos on youtube featuring this band. The music is fun, eclectic, and very danceable. As a Tribal belly dancer, I look for music with Middle Eastern rhythms and gypsy infuences that is not strictly traditional. I also like the vintage element present on this CD, the brass band component. Beats Antique uses a Balkan Beat Box feature in their song, Nesatovo. This is what originally got me interested.

Saint Isaac and the Indians
This is a wonderfully written story that provides much historical and cultural information--the French coming to Canada, the Huron Indians, and the conversion of the Native peoples to Christianity. A great living book for teaching about this saint!
