One of the best rubber dome keyboards ever!
This vintage Dell keyboard is immensely better than the cheap membrane keyboards made today. The keys a solid, smooth, straight travel with no wobble, and a pleasant subdued sound. (Despite its name, you won't find it as "quiet" as more recently made boards—but you'll certainly enjoy typing on it more.) The key are laser-engraved, so their characters won't wear out like those on cheap pad-printed keys.
QuietKeys are well-made, but they're not mechanical keyboards that routinely last for decades (and, of course, cost much more). So I suggest you look for a new one, as there's no telling how much use a used one may have received. A new QuietKey should give you at least 10 years of high-quality service.
If you want to use this with a USB connection, you'll need an active (electronic) PS/2-to-USB converter. The inexpensive (~$2) two-cable converters here on eBay work great, and the mouse connection they include is optional.

Not all Model M's are mechanical
12 von 12 finden das hilfreich If you're looking for a classic mechanical IBM keyboard, with the famously clicky buckling-spring switches under each key, you should be aware that Model M's whose labels show a "part no." starting with 6 or 7 (e.g. 60G0817, 71G4634) are the "quieter" rubber-dome (RD) versions, which IBM made for places where the regular Model M's clicky chatter would be too intrusive.
By nature, rubber domes aren't as long-lasting as mechanical switches. So while it's common to find 20- to 30-year-old mechanical M's that still work and feel as well as ever, an RD version that was used long and hard may have lost some of its responsiveness.
That said, RD Model M's are the best non-mechanical boards ever made. They have the same heavy-duty construction and permanently printed keys as regular M's, and IBM's rubber domes were as durable as they could make them.
So if you plan to type where a standard M's noise may be a problem, an RD version may actually be a better idea. It'll still be "clicky" (especially compared to today's cheap, short-lived membrane boards). And you'll get the same classic look, and _most_ of the feel of a standard M.
Also, since RD Model M's don't have the same collector's value as standard M's, you can expect to pay considerably less for one (about 50% as much, as I write this). Many sellers don't realize their boards are RD versions, so feel free to point that out. And before you buy, be sure to confirm it's in good condition, and that you can return it if it doesn't feel right to you. Good luck!

One of the best rubber dome (non-mechanical) keyboards ever
HP designed these keyboards for their high-quality Vectra PCs, and hired Key Tronic make them. They're immensely better than the cheap membrane keyboards made today.
The key legends are laser-engraved so they won't wear out like cheap pad-printed keys. They have a smooth, straight travel with no wobble, and a pleasing sound similar to the considerably more expensive Topre semi-mechanical keyboards. You can often find these new for just $20–25, a great deal.
To use these with a USB connection, you'll need a PS/2-to-USB converter. The inexpensive (~$2) two-cable converters here on eBay work fine; it's not necessary to use the mouse connection they include.
