Azatom Multiplex D1 DAB+FM Radio
Bought as a returning customer to this brand having priviously had an excellent wifi speaker. White Finnish matches high gloss kitchens well too.
For a pretty compact unit this little beauty punches well above it's weight.
It easily fills my kitchen/diner extension with clear and neutral sound.
Although bought for the kitchen I was delighted to find that the built in battery will provide outside use for the summer months too. As a former HiFi manager, I was sceptical of the claim that the unit was almost HiFi quality. Having judged the output for myself, the listener will soon learn why the claim is made. When sat on a kitchen worktop it's range is rather surprising.
Plenty of personal preference is available via both the bass and treble options, rather than a simple tone control one might expect from a unit at this price point. Both DAB and FM bands produced a great range of stations to choose from, but of course location is everything with regard to this. One final bonus is that the unit comes from Sedgefield, so purchasers are helping the North East economy in the UK. Well done Azatom.

Onkyo A-9010 UK Hi-Fi Stereo Amplifier
I bought this to drive my Q Acoustics 3010i speakers. I have to report that this was a match made in heaven. I set this with the tonal bypass setting to ensure the cleanest sound. After listening to a range of music from Puccini to Metallica it was quickly evident just how spacial, crisp and punchy the Onkyo's range, depth and presence produced. I have only used it so far with my Marantz CD player. I can't wait to link it to my Harman-Kardon ST-7 with Ortofon VMS30 when I get around to unboxing them after moving home recently. I consider this amplifier to be excellent value for money, especially as some retailers are now offering this for less than two hundred pounds. Well done Onkyo for a well laid out facia. I particularly like the front mounted 3.5mm input option. Whole heartedly recommended.
