Cobra Trilogy.
There are, I think, now three Cobra trilogies. The last is perhaps still being written and published. This trilogy as literature? Well it's a readable, slightly slow, space opera. It's the first of the series. It's semi social, semi military science fiction. Like many of these things it is written as a set; you have to read all the novels, in sequence, and preferable at one time, to make any sense of them. I find that trying to read them as they are published, every few years, is frustrating, you will have forgotten who was doing what to whom, when. I'm not enough of a fan-atic to remember what the last one was about.
The science is a little whacky. Faster than light travel without time effects is presumed but not explained. From the standpoint of a veteran special operator and marshal artist, the Cobra concept itself is silly and contra-intuitive. I hope that there will be better ways in the future to assemble a nano power source, skeletal and muscle reinforcements, nano computing, targeting and weapons systems than in the pinkies and left leg. A much more sensible system is introduce in the third trilogy. (see: Cobra Slave.) And some aspects of that are already possible. We just have to shrink it to the individual soldier level.
What makes these most interesting for me is the integration of selection, training, IFF (identification friend or foe), if it moves, it's hostile, medical recuperation, and psychological/psychopathic aspects of special operations combat.

Quality product at a quality price.
Top of the line. Very expensive. Well designed and made. Easy to tune, something absent from cheaper pedals. Is it worth it given that there are many less expensive, adequate pedals available at a fifth of the cost. Well, I installed them on an absolutely top of the line, antique bike (Moulton AM-7), so, for me, yes. They are in keeping with the quality of the bike and don't detract from the value of it.
They also allow me to jump on the bike wearing my customary 10.5 wide Merrill Mojaves and fit. They help make it possible, in my decrepit old age, to ride. I'm not going to slip off and bang up a leg. They aren't going to break when I'm miles from home. That's worth a lot to me. And it doesn't hurt that I got them for a very good price.
It's analogous to driving a cheap Ford. It will get you where you need to go. But driving a Mercedes is a whole lot better.
The only down side from my perspective is that they are pretty obvious to anyone who knows bikes. But then, so is my bike.

Replacement top.
The BEST blender. Someone, ahem, couldn't find the top plug, filled the blender jar anyway and turned it on. The top was in the blender jar. It was still functional, this is a cosmetic replacement.
