The Only Choice

L plates that stay on the car. Hallelujah. As per listing photos they affix to the outside windscreens and do not block driver vision though enclosed advise note says not to leave them affixed all the time or the adhesive effect may decline.

Worth getting at the right price though beware ltd disc recording support

Bought as an affordable way to record the nightly wildlife comings & goings in our garden (hedgehogs,foxes etc).And as a way to archive VHS to the hard drive before editing and burning to disc. The hard drive has ample space to record at various compression resolutions. The ability to edit the footage is welcome though the interface is slightly idiosyncratic and initially unintuitive but once learned it gets the job done. The downside is the DVD recorder which is -R/-RW only and even then a bit picky as to which brands it will recognise. If it supported +R/+RW and DVD RAM (playback only here) I'd have given it the full 5 stars. HDMI output is a bonus. Highly recommended with the only caveats being for limited DVD recording format support and only moderately user friendly interface and remote control. Power consumption is 35w with 4w in standby.

Cliff surfs the years & sings the hits

An elaborate stage show with the voice of Gambo (Paul Gambaccini) introducing each era (sometimes with hyperbole) as the year of release is shown up on the 'time machine' behind Cliff & fellow performers (it's a time machine & Cliff is our Dr Who). Much enjoyed by dementia Mum. Defaults to 5.1 sound I found. Not an easy show to capture on video but it's very well recorded and the show is well paced. Highly recommended gift for Cliff fans of all ages. Wot, no Blu Ray?
