Great little dock with one flaw
Connecting a laptop is nice and easy. There's a big, satisfying eject button to quickly disconnect. All I/O is at the back so you don't get wires sticking out in different directions, although you can still use your laptop's built-in ports while docked if you want. It tilts the laptop forward so it's a little nicer to type on. There's a Kensington lock for attaching the dock to a desk, and another lock to keep the laptop from being ejected. It's supposed to be used with a 90W power supply but I've had no problems with 65W for light use on an X230, YMMV. It's all plastic but very solidly built, as you would expect from a ThinkPad product. There is no bay for an optical drive or second storage drive.
There's a sliding bracket that can lock into two positions to help align different ThinkPad models with the expansion connector but unfortunately this is where I have a single complaint. At the rear-left corner there's a tumour sticking out with the power LED, power button, eject button, locks, and alignment bracket, and if your ThinkPad model is one of the ones which require the bracket to be in the back position then its exhaust will be partially obstructed by this! Why they couldn't just put it on the other side I have no idea. For most users it's not a big deal but if you plan to push your CPU hard then get a dock that doesn't harm airflow.
Besides that design flaw, it's a very nice upgrade for an old Thinkpad that spends most or all of its time on the same desk.
