Cheap Hard Drive
I use this to play games on my fat PS2. I don’t think the PS2 is very intensive so the hard drive works great. Its quieter than the PS2 and is faster than using a standard disc without wearing down the laser, or risking damage to your discs.

Looks very nice
You can definitely find a cheaper PS2 in the correct region, but nothing beats having a unique looking console.
Recommend getting free mcboot and a power adapter before buying a Japanese console. Keep in mind that your games won’t work on the console unless you have a swap magic or something along those lines.

Death grip
While the component cables fit well and are easy to put in and remove, the S-video cable is extremely difficult to plug in and remove.
That being said this is a very cheap way to get your PS2 games to look better.
