Highly detailed. Back in catalogue again!
Highly detailed kit with interior. I really enjoyed building this model. Can be built full hull or waterline. Decals for every Severn class vessel supplied.

Fun, fun, fun
Beautifully sculpted figures. Most of the faces have attitude. These shield-maidens are not for messing with. There are many poses to make, but few with any real action and none with any obvious movement or dramatics, unlike the artwork on the front and back of the box. No-one running, no-one kneeling and no arms swinging. And all the weapons are for right hands. The choice of weapons and shields is good, so most modellers should be able to do a few conversions. I have made 5 so far. Probably worth 5 stars to war-gamers. Great value and well worth buying!

Huge Model Kit
This is a (possibly cleaned-up) re-issue from Heller. The finished model is about 1 metre long. I have not started it yet, but a quick inspection shows very good detail, with the upper hull's steel panels and the deck planking well represented. The parts on the trees/sprues are clean and quite crisp. There is a lot of repetition, with 4 of the 5 masts being almost identical. Ahead lie many months (or more) of painting, assembly and then rigging. I have made Heller's 1/150 Pamir (just slightly smaller) so know how fiddly, yet ultimately satisfying, a lot of the parts are (work with a large tray or box beneath you). Praise to Heller for going to this trouble. No loose bits rattling around the box (which is corrugated cardboard and reasonably sturdy, everything is bagged, apart from the hull halves and the 7 vacform sheets of sails. I was completely inspired by the new box art for this model, infinitely more romantic than the previous 'assembled model' images. The art is also a convenient 70cm x 50cm (like jigsaws) and so can be quickly and neatly framed. I don't know if this was intentional by Heller, but it is a lovely bonus. Many thanks to Creative Models, who for £50, had it with me 2 days after my order. Astounding!
